The Identity: A Legacy of Many Names

In my culture, names are more than labels; they are traditions. Depending on the project, you may know me as Alani N.B. Ade, Naija, or Naija Bae. The name Naija Bae holds a sacred meaning: "Nigerian Before Anything Else." It is an homage to my ancestors whom I met later in life, only to realize they had been guiding and protecting me all along. As a Proverbs 31 woman, I move with keen spiritual discernment and an unwavering devotion to my Creator. I am, quite simply, equal parts Hood & Holy.

  • The Balance: I deeply appreciate the strength of masculinity, as it creates the sacred space for me to fully embody my femininity, to nurture, and to receive.

My journey hasn't been without its mountains. Living with Chiari Malformation taught me the vital lesson of listening—to my body, my spirit, and my limits. It taught me that health is the highest form of wealth. In learning when to rest, I discovered how to "speed up" in the right direction.

Some people chase success. Others—rare and unforgettable—become success itself. I don't believe in waiting for joy; I believe in creating it, one exquisite, intentional detail at a time.
